Job description

Department: 2nd Floor Rehab

Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192

Schedule: Full-Time (36 Hours/Week), Every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: Day Shift 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

As aNurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.ย 

About Our Unit:
Our 38-bed unit provides compassionate, patient-centered care with a strong focus on rehabilitation and recovery after significant illness, injury, or surgery. While we primarily serve a geriatric population, we also care for patients as young as 14, with no upper age limit. Our patients face a variety of medical conditions, including stroke (CVA), traumatic brain injury (TBI), hip fractures, craniotomy, cancer, multiple sclerosis (MS), and amputations.

What You'll Do:
Your day-to-day impact includes:ย 

  • Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.ย ย 
  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.ย 
  • Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.ย ย 
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.ย 
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.ย 

Education/Experience Required:
To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:ย 

  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).ย 
  • Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.ย 
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN licenseย 
  • Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).ย 
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.ย ย 
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferredย ย 

Certifications/Licensures Required:

  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.ย 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.ย 
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.ย 
  • Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
