Washington, of course, went on to become the beloved Father of our Country. His tiny hometown became Alexandria, Virginia, today a picturesque community with a rich and varied history located along the Potomac River just minutes from our nation's Capitol – and one of America's favorite historic destinations. From its early role as an 18th century seaport and home to America's patriots, to its transition as a railroad center in the 19th century and its manufacturing days in the early 1900s, Alexandria has always been a center of commerce and innovation. Today it is home to high technology firms, national associations, retail and hospitality businesses, and the performing arts. But, it is the City's historic ambiance and aura of historic significance combined with its urban sophistication that set Alexandria apart.

Fort Belvoir Fort Belvoir is unlike any other Army installation in the world. It has a diverse, modern-day mission of being a strategic sustaining base for America's Armed Forces. A list of organizations at Fort Belvoir reads like a "Who's Who " in the department of Defense. No other Army installation in the world can compare with our diverse, modern-day mission of providing logistical and administrative support to over 120 diverse tenant satellite organizations. Fort Belvoir is home to several Army command headquarters, units and agencies of nine different Army major commands, 16 different agencies of the Department of the Army, eight elements of the U. S. Army Reserve and Army National Guard and nine DOD agencies. All these agencies play important roles in Fort Belvoir's global mission to provide worldwide logistical and administrative support to all the armed services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Providing clinical and anatomical pathology services in a full-service laboratory including, but not limited to:

  • Anatomic Pathology
    • Aspiration/biopsy
    • Interpretation and performance of frozen sections
    • Evaluations/interpretation of inpatient and outpatient surgical specimens
    • Evaluation of Hematology specimens
    • Utilization of immunohistochemical stains
  • Clinical Pathology
    • Microbiology/Immunology
    • Hematology
    • Blood Banking and Serology
    • Immunohematology
    • Clinical Chemistry
    • Cytopathy
    • Dermatopathology
    • Neuropathology

Requirements:

  • Must hold an MD or a DO degree
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited post-graduate training program in anatomic and clinical pathology
  • Current, valid and unrestricted license to practice pathology medicine in any state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
  • Board Certified by the ABPATH or the AOCPATH in clinical and anatomical pathology
  • Full-time pathology services for at least 12 of the prior 18 months or previous or current participation in a hospital-affiliated residency or clinical fellowship
  • ACLS/ BLS Certifications

Term: 12 months with options Schedule: M-F 7:30am - 4:30pm
