A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join its growing Intellectual Property practice in Chicago, IL.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in patent preparation and prosecution, along with the ability to work across a broad range of electrical, computer, and software technologies. This position offers significant client interaction and the opportunity to work closely with an experienced team of patent attorneys and patent agents on sophisticated domestic and international patent matters.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct invention harvesting meetings with inventors and engineering teams.
  • Advise clients regarding invention disclosures, patentability, portfolio strategy, and prosecution.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify patentable innovations.
  • Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications.
  • Coordinate and manage foreign patent prosecution with international counsel.
  • Assist with patentability, freedom-to-operate, validity, and infringement analyses.
  • Provide strategic intellectual property counseling to clients.
  • Support patent litigation, licensing, due diligence, and other IP-related matters when needed.
