Job description

Baker Hostetler is looking for a Computer Science/Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Patent Agent to join our firm.  This is a unique opportunity to work in our AmLaw 100 firm and support the Intellectual Property Team in one of our office locations.     


This position is ideal for those individuals who have attained a high level of academic and professional achievement and wish to further their careers with a collaborative team in a forward-thinking law firm.


Qualifications include: 

 

3+ years of experience, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering and be registered to practice before the USPTO.

Responsibilities include:
•            Patent drafting, patent prosecution, and IP due diligence;

  • Responses to office actions;
  • Prepare, obtain, and analyze patent searches and provide assessments on patentability, prior art, non-infringement, and validity;
  • Client counseling and portfolio management;
  • Licensing;
  • Proven IP law firm experience;
  • Superb writing and research skills; and
  • A strong academic record.

Additional Experience Desired:

  • Experience working with software development preferred.

Patent Agent Salary Range:

 

The salary offered in any location will be determined by a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, education/training, geographic region, and relevant skills.  Associates also participate in a performance- and hours-based bonus program.

Ohio, Georgia, Florida applicants - The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $130,000-180,000

All other office locations - The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $130,000-180,000.
