Job description

The Technical Support Technician provides customer-focused, part-time, entry-level technical support for IT services within Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL). This role assists the IT Operations team with tasks such as updating computer images, providing AV support, account provisioning, and maintaining/supporting VoIP phone system.
This position also supports day-to-day system administration tasks, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues; assisting with A/V systems in meeting and public spaces; monitoring system performance; managing inventory and equipment lifecycle; and maintaining accurate technical documentation. The technician escalates advanced issues when appropriate and partners with senior IT staff to support ongoing operations, projects, and system improvements while following organizational policies and cybersecurity best practices.

Description:

Hiring Range: $24.06 - $30.09 per hour.

  • Performs a variety of computer maintenance and support tasks, including receiving and documenting incoming support calls, inventorying, basic troubleshooting of PC hardware, software, operating systems, software applications, peripherals and mobile phones.
  • Exercises judgment and decision making in the diagnosis and resolution of basic computer hardware and software problems. Follows established processes and procedures. Provides input for process optimization.
  • Receipting, pulling orders, staging orders, processing delivery receipts, scanning, performing end-of-day processing and performing cycle counts.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and troubleshooting concepts.

  • Ability to provide strong customer service and communicate technical information effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of relevant technical support experience.

  • Experience working in a public-sector, library, or similar service-oriented organization.
