What We Look For In a Vibe Coding Tutor
  • Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of AI-assisted software development using natural language prompts, iterative prompt refinement for code generation, project scaffolding with AI tools, debugging AI-generated code, version control integration, and understanding the capabilities and limitations of AI coding assistants. Ability to explain effective prompt patterns, code review practices for AI output, and rapid prototyping workflows while preparing students for modern AI-augmented development.
  • Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching prompt-based application development, AI-generated code evaluation, and iterative refinement techniques. Guides students through describing software requirements in natural language, reviewing and testing AI-generated code, debugging errors, extending functionality through conversation, and deploying finished applications. Emphasizes understanding code produced by AI and connects vibe coding to rapid prototyping, startup development, and democratizing software creation.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with AI-assisted coding approaches and common challenges such as prompt ambiguity leading to incorrect code, difficulty debugging unfamiliar AI-generated patterns, and understanding when AI tools reach their limitations. Adapts instruction using hands-on AI coding tool practice, code review exercises, and progressive project complexity to support students from non-programmers building first applications through developers integrating AI into existing workflows.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
