What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and why are they important?

To thrive as a part-time RBT, you need a high school diploma (or equivalent), completion of the RBT training program, and a passing score on the RBT exam. Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, data collection software, and electronic health records is commonly required. Strong communication, patience, and adaptability help build rapport with clients and support collaboration with supervising BCBAs. These skills and qualifications ensure effective behavior intervention, accurate data reporting, and positive outcomes for clients with developmental or behavioral challenges.

What does a typical workweek look like for a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and how flexible are the hours?

As a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), your weekly schedule often varies based on client needs and agency practices. Many part-time RBTs work afternoons, evenings, or weekends to accommodate children's school schedules, and sessions may be held in homes, clinics, or community settings. While there is some flexibility in choosing shifts, maintaining consistency for your assigned clients is important. Communication with supervisors and families is key to balancing your availability and ensuring client progress.

What are part-time RBTs?

Part-time Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are professionals who provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy services to clients, usually children with autism or other developmental disorders, on a part-time basis. They work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and assist with implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting data, and supporting clients in developing new skills. Part-time RBTs typically work flexible hours, which may include evenings or weekends, making the role suitable for students or individuals seeking supplemental income. Their responsibilities and required qualifications are the same as full-time RBTs, but with fewer weekly hours.

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) | Clinic-Based | Part-Time (Afternoons)

Education Behavior Consultants (EBC) is hiring a clinic-based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to support our afternoon sessions. If you're the kind of person who loves building real rapport, keeping sessions structured and upbeat, and being part of a team that actually supports each other, you'll fit in well here.

Schedule & Availability (Important)

Part-time role

Afternoon availability required (typical sessions run after school hours)

Room to grow: additional hours may become available based on performance, schedule flexibility, and client needs

What You'll Do

Provide 1:1 ABA therapy to clients in our clinic setting

Implement behavior intervention plans with fidelity (and with humanity)

Collect accurate data during sessions and support skill acquisition goals

Collaborate with BCBAs/supervisors and communicate clearly about progress and barriers

Maintain professional documentation (session notes, data, and basic communication)

Support a clinic culture that's calm, respectful, and team-first

What We're Looking For

Active RBT certification required (this posting is RBT-only)

Experience in ABA preferred (clinic experience is a plus)

Strong professionalism, reliability, and follow-through

Comfortable receiving feedback and applying it quickly

Positive, steady presence with clients (and with coworkers)

Someone who understands that culture matters: we want teammates who are supportive, coachable, and solutions-oriented

Why EBC

We take our work seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. We're big on:

Team support (you won't be left on an island)

Training + growth (we build people up)

Clear expectations (so you can succeed)

A culture where showing up with good energy, humility, and accountability actually means something

How to Apply

Send your resume and a brief note about your afternoon availability and why clinic work is your vibe.

Apply today and let's talk fit.
