Is RBT a good part-time job?

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) often work part-time providing behavioral therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities. The role typically offers flexible hours, opportunities for skill development, and requires certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). It can be a rewarding and suitable option for those interested in healthcare and behavioral support fields.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and why are they important?

To thrive as a part-time RBT, you need a high school diploma (or equivalent), completion of the RBT training program, and a passing score on the RBT exam. Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, data collection software, and electronic health records is commonly required. Strong communication, patience, and adaptability help build rapport with clients and support collaboration with supervising BCBAs. These skills and qualifications ensure effective behavior intervention, accurate data reporting, and positive outcomes for clients with developmental or behavioral challenges.

How much does a part-time behavior technician make?

Part-time behavior technicians typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on experience, location, and certifications such as the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential. Salaries can vary based on the work setting and the number of hours worked weekly.

What is the difference between Parttime Rbt vs Full-time Rbt?

AspectParttime RbtFull-time Rbt

Work EnvironmentPart-time, flexible hours, often in clinics or clients' homesFull-time, consistent hours, similar settings

Both parttime and full-time RBTs require the RBT certification and work in similar environments within behavior therapy. The main difference lies in hours worked and schedule flexibility, with parttime RBTs offering more flexibility and full-time RBTs providing consistent hours for those seeking full employment in the field.

What does a typical workweek look like for a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and how flexible are the hours?

As a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), your weekly schedule often varies based on client needs and agency practices. Many part-time RBTs work afternoons, evenings, or weekends to accommodate children's school schedules, and sessions may be held in homes, clinics, or community settings. While there is some flexibility in choosing shifts, maintaining consistency for your assigned clients is important. Communication with supervisors and families is key to balancing your availability and ensuring client progress.

What jobs pay $10,000 a month without a degree?

A part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) typically does not earn $10,000 a month; such high earnings usually require full-time work or specialized roles. Jobs that can pay $10,000 monthly without a degree include sales, real estate, certain trades like plumbing or electrical work, and entrepreneurship, often requiring skills, certifications, or experience rather than formal education.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Parttime Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) typically do not earn $2000 a day, as their pay is usually hourly and part-time. High-paying jobs that can reach this level often involve specialized skills, consulting, or entrepreneurship in fields like finance, law, or executive management, but these are generally full-time roles or require extensive experience and credentials. For most part-time roles, earning $2000 daily is uncommon without additional factors such as bonuses or commissions.

What are part-time RBTs?

Part-time Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are professionals who provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy services to clients, usually children with autism or other developmental disorders, on a part-time basis. They work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and assist with implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting data, and supporting clients in developing new skills. Part-time RBTs typically work flexible hours, which may include evenings or weekends, making the role suitable for students or individuals seeking supplemental income. Their responsibilities and required qualifications are the same as full-time RBTs, but with fewer weekly hours.

Job description

Description:

Education Behavior Consultants (EBC) is hiring Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) and Behavior Technicians (BT) for our clinic-based afternoon sessions.

A BT is anyone who is early in their ABA journey (or switching into the field) and wants a team that will train, support, and help them grow into a strong clinician.

An RBT is anyone that has passed the certification exam and loves building real rapport, keeping sessions structured and upbeat, and being part of a team.

Schedule & Availability (Important):

  • Part-time role
  • Afternoon availability a plus (after-school hours)
  • Exceptional attendance habits are a must
  • Room to grow: opportunities for more hours as your skills and schedule expand

What You’ll Do:

  • Work 1:1 with clients in a clinic setting using ABA principles
  • Implement skill-building programs and behavior support strategies under supervision
  • Collect session data and help track progress toward goals
  • Support clients with communication, social skills, daily living skills, and regulation
  • Collaborate with supervisors and teammates to keep sessions consistent and high-quality
  • Maintain professionalism, safety, and client dignity at all times

Training & Support
We don’t hire people and toss them into the deep end. You’ll receive:

  • Onboarding and hands-on coaching
  • Ongoing supervision and feedback
  • Clear expectations and support to build confidence quickly
  • A pathway toward RBT certification (if that’s your goal) and supervision hours
Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with kids is helpful (school, childcare, coaching, tutoring, etc.)
  • Strong communication, reliability, and a willingness to learn
  • Coachable, calm under pressure, and team-oriented
  • Culture fit matters here: we want people who are respectful, accountable, and supportive

Why EBC
Our clinic runs on good structure and good people. We care a lot about:

  • Building a positive, growth-focused team
  • Doing the right thing for clients and families
  • Creating an environment where staff feel supported and proud of the work
