Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, data collection software, and electronic health records is commonly required. As a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), your weekly schedule often varies based on client needs and agency practices. Many part-time RBTs work afternoons, evenings, or weekends to accommodate children's school schedules, and sessions may be held in homes, clinics, or community settings. While there is some flexibility in choosing shifts, maintaining consistency for your assigned clients is important. Communication with supervisors and families is key to balancing your availability and ensuring client progress.

What are part-time RBTs?

Part-time Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are professionals who provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy services to clients, usually children with autism or other developmental disorders, on a part-time basis. They work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and assist with implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting data, and supporting clients in developing new skills. Part-time RBTs typically work flexible hours, which may include evenings or weekends, making the role suitable for students or individuals seeking supplemental income. Their responsibilities and required qualifications are the same as full-time RBTs, but with fewer weekly hours.

Somewhere Over the Spectrum is a new Autism Center located in Berlin, CT that offers holistic and comprehensive ABA services to children on the Autism Spectrum and their families. This is currently a part time hourly position, which has the potential to grow into a full-time hourly position for the right individual. Children participate alongside their peers in circle time and exploratory centers, with their ABA Therapist by their side, helping to make each moment of the day meaningful and an opportunity for learning. They also have 1:1 ABA sessions throughout the day to target skills in an individualized environment, with an objective to quickly generalize these skills to the natural environment with their peers. We also offer Intensive In-Home and Community Autism Programming, to provide services to children in their homes, daycares, preschools, homeschool programs or private schools. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to work with and empower people in their community.
