To thrive as a part-time RBT, you need a high school diploma (or equivalent), completion of the RBT training program, and a passing score on the RBT exam. Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, data collection software, and electronic health records is commonly required. Strong communication, patience, and adaptability help build rapport with clients and support collaboration with supervising BCBAs. These skills and qualifications ensure effective behavior intervention, accurate data reporting, and positive outcomes for clients with developmental or behavioral challenges.

What is the difference between Parttime Rbt vs Full-time Rbt?

Both parttime and full-time RBTs require the RBT certification and work in similar environments within behavior therapy. The main difference lies in hours worked and schedule flexibility, with parttime RBTs offering more flexibility and full-time RBTs providing consistent hours for those seeking full employment in the field.

What does a typical workweek look like for a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and how flexible are the hours?

As a part-time Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), your weekly schedule often varies based on client needs and agency practices. Many part-time RBTs work afternoons, evenings, or weekends to accommodate children's school schedules, and sessions may be held in homes, clinics, or community settings. While there is some flexibility in choosing shifts, maintaining consistency for your assigned clients is important. Communication with supervisors and families is key to balancing your availability and ensuring client progress.

What are part-time RBTs?

Part-time Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are professionals who provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy services to clients, usually children with autism or other developmental disorders, on a part-time basis. They work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and assist with implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting data, and supporting clients in developing new skills. Part-time RBTs typically work flexible hours, which may include evenings or weekends, making the role suitable for students or individuals seeking supplemental income. Their responsibilities and required qualifications are the same as full-time RBTs, but with fewer weekly hours.

$2,000 SIGN-ON BONUS FOR CERTIFED RBTs!
At The Place for Children with Autism, we're more than a therapy center. We're a team on a mission to help children with autism thrive. As a Behavior Therapist, you'll help children with autism develop new skills, celebrate milestones, and reach their full potential - all while jumpstarting your own career in behavioral health. We know that great care starts with supported, empowered therapists. That's why we provide you with fully paid comprehensive training to help you earn your Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification - That means no prior experience is required! In fact, most of our new hires are ready to sit for their certification within just 35 days of their start date.
What You'll Do
  • Work 1:1 with children between the ages of 4-12 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them learn communication, social, and daily-living skills.
  • Implement individualized therapy programs designed by our Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), collect data, and participate in team discussions around progress and strategy.
  • Bring energy, creativity, and passion - Using play, movement, and laughter to engage children while promoting skill-building and growth.
  • Partner with clients and their families in celebrating wins, problem-solving challenges, and promoting each child's growth.

What We're Looking For
  • Energetic team players who show up ready to engage and move with children throughout their sessions - This includes bending, squatting, lifting up to 30 pounds, and keeping pace with energetic young learners during play and activities.
  • A collaborator ready to take on multiple tasks and decisions at once - whether it's guiding a child, taking notes, or communicating with parents or clinical staff.
  • Positive role models with a commitment to safety by keeping the therapy environment organized, safe, and welcoming so every child can explore and learn comfortably.
  • Driven optimists who arrive to work on time each day and are ready to learn, take feedback, and bring a can-do attitude to their teams and the families they serve.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and hold a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Have accessibility to reliable transportation with a valid driver's license and insurance and be able to travel to other clinics to support when assigned.

What We Offer
Competitive Pay Based on Your Experience & Education:
  • High School or Associate's Degree: $17.05 - $23.00 per hour
  • Master's Degree (ABA, Psychology, Special Education): $18.00 - $24.00 per hour.

Generous Benefits & Perks
  • You'll enjoy one floating holiday, and the ability to accrue sick leave and wellness time - all to help you balance work and life.
  • 401k with Company match up to 3%
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Cancer & Critical Illness Coverage
  • Monthly wellness reimbursement up to $25
  • Up to 3 RBT exam and annual renewal fees are covered!
  • Pet Insurance - because fur-babies count too!

A Commitment to Your Growth
  • Structured onboarding and training from experienced clinical staff.
  • RBT certification is fully supported and paid for by The Place.
  • Transparent paths for advancement - many of our BT's have moved into Lead Therapist, Supervisor, or BCBA roles.
  • Development programs, feedback loops, and growth checkpoints are built into every employee's journey.

A Culture That Feels Like Family
  • Leaders who are accessible, supportive, and invested in your success.
  • An inclusive and collaborative company that values DEIB and ensuring that all voices are heard.
  • Opportunities to get involved beyond your role - Joining employee-led initiatives and committees that help shape our culture, plan events, and connect across our centers.
  • A workplace that prioritizes mental wellness, positivity, and balance while maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
  • Recognition programs that reward dedication, creativity, and teamwork, making you feel appreciated every day.
