Position Summary
The Department of Psychology at Southern Utah University invites ongoing applications for a part-time instructor pool to teach classes such as general psychology, personality theory, abnormal psychology, and other classes as needed from the catalog. (See:
Please note that all part-time instructor postings are for adjunct pools. Positions may or may not be immediately available, however whenever openings occur, the department chair will turn to the adjunct pools to fill the openings. Applicants to these pools will not hear back on their status unless an opening occurs and the department chair decides they wish to interview that candidate to possibly fill the new opening.
To apply submit a 1) CV/Resume, 2) unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts, 3) a brief teaching statement including evidence of previous teaching experience and a list of courses from the Psychology Department website that you feel qualified to teach (1-page maximum), and 4) names and contact information of three professional references.
This position is contingent upon funding. According to SUU HR, only adjuncts residing in the state of Utah are eligible to apply. This position pays $900 per undergraduate credit.
Essential Functions
  • Provide educational instruction appropriate to the topic, course description, learning outcomes, and student audience.
  • Promote student success by creating an environment aligned to learning and student involvement.
  • Manage the learning environment through effective record-keeping, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic, code of conduct, and attendance policies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A master's degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., counseling).
  • Undergraduate teaching experience.
