Job description

Grace Chapel is seeking a skilled, experienced worship leader ready to take the next step in their ministry career. This role serves as the primary worship leader for the Sunday morning services at our Wilmington Campus and collaborates with worship leaders across our campuses to ensure excellence and alignment in worship. This position works closely with the Central Pastor of Worship to strengthen and develop our worship experiences and partners with the digital team to create online worship content that extends our reach beyond Sunday mornings.  

This Worship Leader will provide creative, and spiritual leadership to worship gatherings at Grace Chapel’s Wilmington location. This role requires more than musical ability—it calls for a leader with broad creative instincts, strong experience in church worship leadership, and working knowledge of AVL (audio, video, and lighting) systems. The ideal candidate is both a skilled musician and a team builder who inspires excellence, disciples volunteers, and curates engaging, Christ-centered worship environments. 

This position is part time, with the opportunity to be full time by taking on additional responsibilities.

Worship Leadership  

  • Plan, lead, and oversee all aspects of the worship services in Wilmington. 

  • Lead congregational worship with excellence and authenticity, primarily as a vocalist and instrumentalist.  

  • Curate song selections that reflect theological depth, cultural relevance, and congregational sing-ability.  

  • In coordination with the Pastor of Worship and digital team, curate online worship experiences that reach unchurched and de-churched people  

  • Contribute to worship experiences, as needed, for weddings and funerals 

  • Participate in special events like Nights of Worship 

  • Help develop NextGen worship  

  • Creative Arts & AVL  

  • Collaborate with production, music, and teaching teams to design cohesive, creative, and Spirit-led worship experiences.  

  • Explore and implement creative worship elements (visuals, lighting, media, stage design) to enhance engagement. 

  • Provide input on AVL systems, working with technical staff and volunteers to ensure seamless execution.  

  • Leadership & Team Development  

  • Provide leadership and team development for the worship and tech team members.  

  • Recruit, disciple, and equip volunteer musicians and vocalists. 

  • Work closely with the Central Pastor of Worship and other campus worship leaders to align services with Grace Chapel’s vision and values.  

  • Partner with creative, communications, and pastoral teams on major events (Advent, Christmas, Easter, and outreach services) and worship recordings for our Online campus. 

Skills and qualifications 
A candidate for this position should have the following prerequisites and qualifications:

  • Communicator: An individual with the ability to communicate effectively in large and small group settings.

Qualifications  

  • A vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, with alignment to Grace Chapel’s statement of faith and values.  

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading worship in a church of comparable size or complexity.  

  • Strong vocal and instrumental ability (guitar or keys preferred).  

  • Demonstrated experience leading and discipling worship teams and volunteers.  

  • Working knowledge of AVL systems (audio consoles, ProPresenter, lighting software, live streaming).  

  • Proven creative instincts, with the ability to integrate music, media, and technology into cohesive worship experiences.  

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.  

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and campuses in a multi-site church.  

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, challenging environment with multiple competing priorities; yet offers loads of fun as we work together to see lives transformed by Jesus. 

  • Strong time management skills including the ability to multi-task on various projects and priorities under fixed schedules and pressure situations.
