Part-time Project Director - Energy Sector
Job Description
Serve as the Project Director for the US Department of Energy grant partnership with Albemarle US Inc. The position supports the coordination and administration of the College's responsibilities for the US DOE grant including administration, collaboration, and project initiatives. This position is funded by a multi-year grant from the US DOE/Albemarle US Inc. and is subject to the availability of funds. This is a part-time position with the opportunity to work up to 28 hours per week. Work hours may vary based on project needs and may occasionally include evenings, weekends, or travel.
Essential Duties Summary
Essential Responsibilities
  • Monitor progress of all College activity deliverables of the US DOE grant. This includes planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to deadlines and within budget.
  • Serve as the College liaison and professional representative for the US DOE grant with Albemarle, community partners, and others.
  • Acquire resources both internal and external to coordinate efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants as needed to meet project outcomes.
  • Serve as the grant administrator for all aspects of data collection, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Manage project budget, procurement of supplies, equipment, and services, and supervise the use of funds.
  • Prepare project reports and ensure submission to appropriate authorities.
  • Develop curriculum and training programs applicable to the US DOE grant.
  • Remain current on research and methods applicable to the project.
  • Work closely with the US DOE project team across all partner sites to identify organizational needs, priorities, and program objectives, and to collaborate on project initiatives.
  • Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations on the local, state, and federal level.
  • Serve on committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and other related duties incident to the work described herein.

Skills and Abilities

  • Skill in the use of computers and commitment to use of technology.
  • Experience with current version of MS Office, Office365, or similar programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including organizing data, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, and using basic formulas and functions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Provide exceptional customer services with people internal and external to the institution.

Salary Range
$25-$30/hour
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office/Office365 applications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of work-related experience in the energy or manufacturing sector.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of community college experience.
  • Experience with US Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, or other federally grant-funded experience.

Physical Demands
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information, analyze data, make assessments, and exercise good judgment to make decisions; possess ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus; and effective use of all forms of communication (oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers. Be able to lift weights up to 10 pounds regularly.
