Parttime Plumber information

What is the difference between Parttime Plumber vs Fulltime Plumber?

AspectParttime PlumberFulltime Plumber
Work HoursFewer hours, often flexibleStandard full-day shifts, typically 40+ hours/week
CertificationsRequired plumbing license, may vary by stateSame certifications as parttime, often with additional licenses for complex work
Work EnvironmentResidential, commercial, or industrial sites, flexible schedulingSimilar environments, with more consistent scheduling
Employer UsageFreelance, small companies, or contractorsEmployers, plumbing companies, or contractors

Parttime plumbers typically work fewer hours with flexible schedules, often in residential or commercial settings, and may be self-employed or work for small firms. Fulltime plumbers work standard hours, often with more consistent schedules, and are usually employed by larger companies or plumbing firms. Both roles require similar certifications and work in similar environments, but differ mainly in hours and employment structure.

What do local plumbers charge per hour?

Part-time plumbers typically charge between $45 and $200 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, location, and the complexity of the job. Rates may also include additional fees for emergency services or specialized work, and some plumbers charge a flat fee for certain tasks.

How much can a part-time plumber make?

A part-time plumber's earnings depend on hours worked, experience, and location, but typically they earn between $20 and $50 per hour. Since they work fewer hours than full-time plumbers, their annual income is proportionally lower, often ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 annually for part-time work. Certifications and specialized skills can also influence pay rates.

Can plumbers make 300k a year?

While most plumbers earn between $40,000 and $70,000 annually, highly experienced or specialized plumbers working in commercial or industrial settings can potentially earn close to or over $100,000. Earning $300,000 a year is uncommon and typically requires advanced skills, certifications, and a high-volume or niche market, often involving business ownership or union positions.

Is 30 too old to become a plumber?

Part-time plumbers can start at any age, including 30, as the profession values skills, certifications, and experience over age. Many plumbers begin training or apprenticeships later in life and find success in the trade, which often involves hands-on work and technical knowledge. Age is generally not a barrier to entering the plumbing field if you meet the training and licensing requirements.

Job description

Job Description
Clean, running water and heat are necessities of life, and as a Plumber for the Army National Guard, you'll train for a career that will always be in demand.
In this role, you will work on pipe systems for water, steam, and waste, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Duties include reading drawings, plans, and specifications, planning the layout of pipe systems, and installing and maintaining pipe systems and plumbing fixtures. This will require the ability to work with pipe made of various materials and different pipe connection methods.

Some of the Skills You'll Learn
โ€ข Installation and repair of plumbing fixtures, boiler controls, water purification, and distillation systems
Helpful Skills

Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career in commercial and residential contracting. With additional certifications, you could work for public utility companies, plumbing contractors, or as a self-employed contractor.
Earn While You Learn
Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to train. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.
After 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) where you'll learn what you need to get started as an Army National Guard Plumber.
