Position Overview
The Part-Time College Success Coach facilitates classroom level support for students and serves as student advocates. The position engages students in proactive interventions to ensure they stay on track towards their academic goals and intervenes when students are identified as at-risk. The College Success Coach helps students stay on top of coursework, engage with academic supports as needed, and connect with non-cognitive supports (counseling, social services, etc.) to support positive course outcomes.
What you will be doing
• Assesses student needs and determines appropriate course of action to provide students with adequate referrals
• Utilizes program analytics and faculty referrals to triage at-risk students and connect to appropriate support services
• Assists students in becoming aware of and making use of College and campus resources, student services, and special programming such as academic tutoring, advising, career services, counseling, Single Stop, disability services, financial aid, and student life
• Utilizes student success technology to provide outreach and support to students
• Addresses student at-risk alerts and escalates student issues up the chain of supervision until resolved
• Assists students in identifying goals and cultivates their strengths to develop a plan of action for goal completion
• Facilitates transition of students to their respective academic advisors for services required for subsequent semesters
• Coordinates with advisors and recruiters in student services to ensure consistency of information dissemination
• Generates reports on student outcomes and other performance indicators
• Monitors and tracks student progress through the enrollment process
• Identifies and/or provides high quality academic support services, including education regarding time management and organizational skills, study skills, and assistance with task analysis
• Serves as liaison between students, faculty and support services at the College
• Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and two years of college (60 credits) from a regionally accredited institution in a related area; bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
• All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
• Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
• Knowledge and proficiency in computer software, especially Microsoft Office applications and student success tools
• Strong knowledge of student support programs and ability to make proper referrals
• Ability to work independently and take initiative and responsibility for scheduling individual
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to plan and manage own workflow, priorities, and results accomplishment
• Ability to conduct workshops and presentations
• Ability to meet deadlines and with attention to detail
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
• Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
