Description
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for part-time, non-tenured instructors, with a start date of Jan 19, 2026 .
The department of Computer Science & Engineering offers:
BS degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering,
MS degrees in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity Risk and Strategy, Emerging Tech, and PhD degrees in Computer Science.
Qualifications
We invite applicants to teach one or more graduate courses. In particular, we presently seek instructors for Offensive Security (graduate standing) with a hands-on approach. You should be an excellent experienced instructor with a MS or a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline with a record of practical industry experience in this area and a real passion to teach it. Instruction modality is both online and/or in-person at NYU Tandon's Brooklyn campus.
This course teaches Offensive Security in the context of Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges. It covers techniques and methods to reverse x86_64 assembly, exploitation strategies for compiled binaries, and common vulnerabilities in web applications and cryptographic implementations.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Assess the logic of compiled code via binary reverse engineering and solve programming challenges based on the functionality of the binary
  • Employ memory corruption tactics and strategies to exploit compiled binaries
  • Recognize web-based vulnerabilities and develop relevant attacks
  • Assess cryptographic implementations to identify vulnerabilities and write-related exploits to demonstrate understanding
  • Apply course-related CTF challenges to real-world software
  • Compete in future CTF competitions

Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the contact hour rate for this position is $222.27. This rate is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 7902.
