Job description

Nature of Work Participates in building equipment maintenance functions using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and other maintenance skills. Oversees contractors when performing preventive maintenance and/or corrective actions when necessary. Follows all safety and sanitation policies and procedures to ensure the elimination of fire and other safety hazards.

Perform daily inventory of tools, safety equipment, as well as performing custodial work in areas of assignment. Performs safety inspections of building equipment such as security systems and mechanical operations of the building and its systems. Assist administrative personnel in procurement procedures to obtain necessary parts and materials for maintenance and repairs to building and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or GED or four year apprenticeship program or two year post secondary technical school. Substitution: Experience in air-conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work. Special Requirement: Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
