SoPo Bookstore Coordinator Assistant: Part-time

PURPOSE

Supports the SoPo Bookstore Coordinator in maintaining Bible and book inventory while helping create a welcoming, organized, and ministry-focused environment in the SoPo bookstore and group space. Assists with daily operations, customer service, inventory management, and administrative tasks to ensure guests receive excellent service and resources that strengthen their spiritual walk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, organizing, and merchandising Bible and book inventory.

  • Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records under the direction of the Bookstore Coordinator.

  • Assist with processing shipments, transfers, special orders, and product returns.

  • Help maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing displays throughout the bookstore and group space.

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, locating resources, and recommending books or Bibles appropriate to individual needs.

  • Assist with fulfillment of in-house, ministry, staff, and special orders.

  • Enter and maintain accurate product information within the POS and inventory systems as assigned.

  • Assist with purchase order preparation, invoice organization, and other administrative tasks related to inventory management.

  • Help coordinate and maintain seating within the group space, balancing reserved meeting areas with open seating for guests.

  • Monitor bookstore inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to the Bookstore Coordinator.

  • Assist with opening, closing, and daily operational procedures.

  • Support ministry opportunities by encouraging guests through conversation, prayer, and resource recommendations when appropriate.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that reflects the mission and values of SoPo and Calvary Church.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Bookstore Coordinator and Cafe Manager.

ESSENTIAL TASKS
  • Greet and assist customers with purchases and resource recommendations.

  • Stock shelves and maintain merchandise presentation.

  • Receive, unpack, and organize incoming shipments.

  • Assist with inventory counts and scanning processes.

  • Process special orders and customer pickups.

  • Assist with shipping and product returns.

  • Maintain product pricing and labeling accuracy.

  • Help reconcile inventory discrepancies.

  • Coordinate with ministry departments regarding inventory pickups and replenishment.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bookstore, group space, and storage areas.

  • Provide support during church services, special events, conferences, and ministry weekends.

  • Assist with customer service concerns and escalate issues to the Bookstore Coordinator when appropriate.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Strong Biblical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of and agreement with CCNM's theology and philosophy of ministry.

  • Demonstrates spiritual maturity and a heart for ministry.

  • Excellent customer service skills with a welcoming and servant-hearted attitude.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Comfortable learning POS and inventory management systems.

  • Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stock merchandise throughout scheduled shifts.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous retail, inventory, customer service, or ministry experience preferred but not required.

  • Required availability includes Wednesday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays. Flexibility to work additional ministry events, conferences, and holiday schedules as needed is expected.
