Job Description
Salary: $21.00 HourlyThe Greenpoint YMCA is seeking a Teen & Sports Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Youth & Family Director, the Teen & Sports Coordinator will assist with managing and supervising all core teen programming and be responsible for organizing and overseeing our sports programming. Responsibilities include assisting with program and community development, and creating recruitment and retention for Teen and Sports programs. The Coordinator, with input from the Youth & Family Director, will implement and follow all the YMCA of Greater New York Teen and Sports Program Standards.
Program portfolio may include: Leader's Club, Teens Take the City, Saturday Night Lights, Rowe Scholars, Teen Center, etc.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. College credits in the field of Education desired.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth/teens and planning activities.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Experience teaching and facilitating training sessions on teen-related issues.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, or AED certifications preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfortable working with multi-cultural youth and adults.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of youth and teens in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Manage administrative data entry in various systems, including Youth Service.NET and AS400, coordination of participant paperwork, conducting program surveys, and all other requirements outlined by City agencies and by the YMCA's Teen Standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, program workshops, and special events.
  • Assist in marketing and distributing program information and compiling program statistics.
  • Establish and maintain links with service providers in various settings, including other CBOs, schools, and community partnerships.
  • Attends monthly training sessions and workshops related to Teen and Sports programming.
  • Plan and create new and innovative teen programs that meet the community's needs in accordance with the Branch's priority objectives and strategic plan.
  • Plan, promote, implement, supervise, and coordinate sports programs, including performing Coach or Official duties as needed.
  • Implement the curriculum for various teen programs in accordance with the YMCA Teen Program standards and operation manual, including, but not limited to, weekly club meetings, 70+ program participants, and community service projects.
  • Participate in Branch Fundraising or Annual Support Campaigns.
  • Act as the liaison to the YMCA of Greater New York regarding teen issues.
  • Provide support to the Youth & Family Director regarding staff management and scheduling.
  • Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
  • Create and support an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the needs of teens.
