Position Summary:

The Vice President, Relationship Manager I is a key partner to the Market President in executing the Bank’s commercial banking strategy. This role provides direct support to the Market President in managing and growing the market, while also prospecting for new business, supporting existing client relationships, and ensuring disciplined portfolio management. The position requires a strong balance of relationship skills, credit acumen, and market awareness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial banking or credit analysis, with demonstrated success in client relationship management
  • Manage a portfolio of small to mid-size commercial clients, ensuring their banking needs are met.
  • Assist with underwriting loans and managing credit risk in collaboration with the credit team.
  • Develop relationships with clients to identify cross-selling opportunities for bank products.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure timely loan processing and account management.
  • Conduct client account reviews and participate in risk management discussions with senior leadership.
  • Partner closely with the Market President to implement market-level strategic initiatives and drive overall growth.
  • Assist with preparation for client meetings, community involvement, and internal leadership responsibilities.
  • Provide analytical and relationship support to ensure the Market President is positioned for success in business development and portfolio oversight.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new commercial banking opportunities within the market.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients through proactive calling, networking, and community engagement.
  • Partner with product specialists to deliver customized financial solutions across lending, deposits, treasury, and other banking services.
  • Support the management of the commercial loan portfolio, including monitoring credit quality, covenant compliance, and profitability.
  • Assist in structuring and underwriting credit facilities in collaboration with credit partners.
  • Identify risks or issues within the portfolio and recommend solutions that protect the Bank’s interests.
  • Must allocate time effectively and independently prioritize workload to meet timelines
  • Good mathematical reading comprehension and writing skills
  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

Job Type:

This is a full-time exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires regular sitting, walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), reading, seeing (including color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusted focus), speaking, hearing, listening, organizing, interpreting data and information, operating office equipment, typing using a computer keyboard and mouse, viewing a computer screen monitor, and use of a telephone. The working environment consists of an indoor and climate-controlled setting most of the time.
