Job description

About Viam
Founded by Eliot Horowitz, co-founder and former CTO of MongoDB, Viam is a novel robotics engineering platform that lets you configure, control, and manage robots intuitively and quickly. We're inspiring a generation of engineers to solve complicated automation problems with our uniquely powerful suite of software tools.
We're a ~100-person company headquartered in New York City.
About the role
  • Location: NYC (Hybrid 3 days in office)
  • Contract Length: 3 months
  • Hours: 24 hours/week
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Compensation: $30-$45/hour. The range reflects our openness to candidates at different experience levels, from early-career talent with strong work samples to more experienced content marketers.

Viam is a robotics software platform built for software engineers. We're looking for a part-time Social Media & Content Producer to create compelling content from Viam's demos, product updates, technical expertise and stories. The goal is to drive developer discovery, product usage and adoption.
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this hands-on IC will primarily own social content across Viam's channels. The role will also support major launches, campaigns and Viam Education initiatives, while partnering closely with DevRel, Growth and Brand.
What you'll do
  • Create, design, schedule, and publish content across LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and Instagram.
  • Turn technical source material into channel-native content, including short-form video, threads, product posts, and event content.
  • Own Viam's Twitter/X presence and build a consistent, credible voice with developers.
  • Manage Viam's YouTube channel, including uploads, titles, descriptions, metadata, and organization.
  • Write occasional blog posts by working with engineers and other technical subject matter experts.
  • Support content needs around major product launches, campaigns, and Viam Education initiatives.
  • Review performance biweekly and identify what's working, what isn't, and what to adjust.
  • Brief and provide feedback to video support when needed.
What we're looking for
  • Developer-focused content experience. You've created social content for a developer tool, technical SaaS product, or similarly technical audience.
  • Strong editorial judgment. You know what will interest a software engineer and can find the story inside technical material.
  • Excellent writing. Your copy is precise, clear, human, and avoids marketing hype.
  • Strong visual instincts. You can independently create polished assets in Canva and think across text, image, and short-form video. Adobe experience is a plus.
  • High independence. You can take a brief or raw idea, determine the angle, and bring back finished work with a point of view.
  • A portfolio or examples of relevant work across social, video, writing, or other content for technical audiences.

Note: This is a part-time (24 hours/week), 3 month contract role, not full-time.
Full-time Benefits
Viam's base salary range for this role is posted above. In addition to cash compensation, Viam offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants, health benefits, and more.
  • 100% covered medical/dental/vision insurance plans, commuter benefits
  • 25 days paid vacation and generous holiday observances
  • Free lunch every day that you're in the office
  • One Medical Membership
  • Citi Bike memberships
  • Monthly wellness stipend to be used for a variety of fitness-related items like gym memberships, fitness classes, fitness equipment, and more
  • Paid parental leave
  • Reproductive Health Benefits, including Fertility Benefits and Abortion Access Travel Benefits
  • Yearly Learning and Development Budget for your own personal learning goals
Values:
  • Vision Driven
  • Collaborate Openly
  • Act Decisively
  • Succeed Through Diversity
  • Hold Ourselves Accountable
  • Lead with Curiosity
