Job description

Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group is actively seeking a Part-Time X-Ray Technologist to practice out of our Imaging Centers in Newport News, Williamsburg and Hampton. Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group (TPMG) includes more than 220 primary care, specialty physicians and advanced practice clinicians in more than 75 locations throughout southeastern Virginia. The schedule is part time hours.
Position Summary
The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for using the x-ray equipment to produce diagnosing images.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for explaining the procedure performed to the patient.
  • Prepares the patient for x-rays by making sure they are properly positioned for optimal results.
  • Takes x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of procedures to reduce patient radiation exposure.
  • Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology.
  • Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
  • Skill in excellent customer service.
  • Skill in using x-ray machine.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
  • Ability to work independently.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/REQUIREMENTS
  • COVID 19 Vaccination is required
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Six to twelve months related experience/training.
  • Completion of ARRT program.
  • Registered as a RTR.
  • Licensed in the state of Virginia.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for periods of time.
  • Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. *
