Job description

POSITION:  Intervention Specialist (Part-Time) Scholarship IEP Writer
TERM:  2026 - 2027 School Year (30-Day Assignment)
Position Summary:
Summit Educational Service Center is seeking a licensed Intervention Specialist to provide specialized support to two partner school districts by developing scholarship Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible students. This is a  part-time position for a total of 30 workdays during the 2026 - 2027 school year.







The Intervention Specialist will collaborate with district personnel and families to ensure scholarship IEPs are developed in compliance with state and federal special education requirements and reflect each student's individual needs.  
Essential Responsibilities:
 



  • Review existing evaluation reports, educational records, and other relevant documentation to determine present levels of academic achievement and functional performance.
  • Write compliant, individualized IEPs that include measurable annual goals, specially designed instruction, accommodations, modifications, and related services as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with district administrators, intervention specialists, related service providers, and parents throughout the IEP development process.
  • Participate in IEP meetings.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with Ohio Department of Education and Workforce requirements, IDEA, Section 504 (when applicable), and district procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and complete assigned work within established timelines.
  • Communicate professionally with district staff, families, and Summit ESC personnel.  
     

Qualifications:
 

  • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities, and scholarship IEP requirements.
  • Experience developing compliant IEPs for students with disabilities.
  • Strong written communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple school districts.
  • Experience with electronic special education management systems is preferred.

Terms of Employment:
 

  • Temporary, part-time position for 30 total workdays during the 2026 - 2027 school year.
  • Assigned to support two partner school districts.
  • Work schedule will be determined in collaboration with district administrators and Summit ESC.
  • Compensation will be based on the approved Summit ESC temporary rate or as determined by contract.

Reports to: Director of Student Services or Designee

Physical Demands: The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, including prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings.

Evaluations: Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Student Services or designee in accordance with Summit ESC policies and procedures.
