Position Overview
*This is an open and continuous recruitment which will close without notice
once a sufficient pool of highly-qualified candidates has been created.
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Custodian (Part-Time) in the Department of Public Works. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty cleaning and maintaining city buildings; and performs other duties as assigned.
Position Details:
  • This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.
  • This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation.
  • This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS).
  • Work schedule will vary and may not exceed 19 hours per week. May be required to work a flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours.
  • External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • Six (6) months of full-time experience performing custodial maintenance duties
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Must obtain a Custodial Technician Level I certification from the Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) within the first twelve (12) months of employment as a condition of continued employment
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check and a wants/warrants check
  • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six (6) months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment

  • Uniform Allowance - $85.00 per month to employees required to wear a uniform, or $115.00 if required to wear fire retardant clothing
  • A $175.00 shoe allowance is provided on an annual basis to those employees required to wear ANSI Z41-1991 or above rated safety shoes
