Housekeeper (Part-Time)

St. Martha Catholic Parish in Miami, Florida has an immediate opening for a Part-time Housekeeper . This position will be responsible for the cleaning of the church and parish center and offices, to ensure that appearance positively reflects and enhances the church in the community. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Tends to the cleaning and custodial care of the Church and parish facilities.
  • Vacuums, sweeps, mops, dusts, wipes down glass surfaces, and polishes woodwork and furniture.
  • Empties trash containers, refills liners, disposes of all trash in a sanitary way, using bags placed in the dumpsters.
  • Removes litter and debris from all areas, observing proper disposal practices.
  • Cleans restrooms, restocks supplies, soap, hand towels, and sanitary paper.
  • Organizes and maintains cleaning equipment.
  • Monitors daily the condition and takes care of the facilities. Seeks resolutions as necessary.
  • Lifts and/or moves boxes, bulletins, sacristy supplies, and furniture as needed.
  • Assists with the transport and the setting up of seasonal decoration in the church and on parish grounds.
Qualifications:
  • High-school diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in custodial work.
  • Ability to carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Good English-language communication skills required, Spanish-language communication skills a plus.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the cleaning of buildings or other structures.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Must be safety conscious and able to perform all work according to safe work practices while maintaining a safe, clean work area and tools, and report any hazards to supervisor.
  • Supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Experience in a Roman Catholic environment preferred.
  • Must have a pleasant, service-oriented demeanor with good people skills.
