Registered Nurse -Women's Health, Inpatient Oncology, Med-Surge Unit (5B)
Location: Baptist Health Lexington
Schedule: Part-time | 1st Shift | 1 Shift/wk (12hrs)
About the unit: 5B is a 22-bed medical/surgical unit specializing in women's care, oncology, gynecology, and palliative/hospice care. The unit also cares for patients receiving chemotherapy. In addition, 5B provides post-operative care for plastic surgery and general surgery patients.
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers compassionate, evidence-based care designed to support healing and wellness. In this role, you'll coordinate, ensure, and provide direct patient care while creating an environment rooted in dignity, respect, and empathy. You will use your clinical expertise and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for patients across the lifespan.
As a clinical nurse, you'll spend the majority of your time (>50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care through:
  • Conducting nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments
  • Facilitating admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Providing patient and family-centered education
  • Coordinating care and developing individualized treatment plans

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient needs
  • Administer medications and implement nursing interventions in accordance with best practices and hospital policy
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
  • Monitor and document patient responses, revising care plans as needed
  • Support a culture of safety, quality improvement, and compassionate service
  • Mentor and support colleagues and new team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college/university or an associate degree with a minimum of ten (10) years' experience required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree and less than ten years' experience, an associate degree in nursing will be acceptable for initial hire with the understanding that the individual must be enrolled within 12 months in a bachelor's degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
  • Basic Life Support (Must obtain within 30 days of hire.)
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
