Job description

ABridge Care Cottage of Chilton is seeking part time cook/dietary aide for WEEKENDS (6:30am-2:30pm). This is an every weekend only position.

Reports To: Dietary Manager and Administrator

Summary: Responsible for the preparation, presentation, clean up, and storage of meals.  Responsible for following the prepared menu and assuring adequate supplies for the preparation of the meal.  Assuring the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen and pantry.  Maintain menus and orders as directed. 

Responsibilities: 


  1. Maintain Kitchen/Pantry 
  2. Keep kitchen clean and free of clutter 
  3. Assure no food or boxes are located on the floor 
  4. Assure dirty laundry is in non-porous container and taken directly to laundry room (to be removed daily at end of shift) 
  5. Log temperature of refrigerator and freezer daily 
  6. Report broken equipment immediately  
  7. Serve meals according to diet plans 
  8. Set tables for meal times 
  9. Clean up after meal times  

  1. Kitchen Equipment 
  2. Report broken or malfunctioning equipment immediately  
  3. Assure cleanliness of all appliances and kitchen gear 
  4. Enforce proper use of kitchen equipment 

  1. Resident Services 
  2. Know and adhere to Resident Rights 
  3. Know the residents special diets, serving techniques, likes and dislikes 
  4. Offer snacks and beverages at designated times 

  1. Infection Control 
  2. Practice proper hand washing techniques 
  3. Follow standard precautions or other precautions as posted 
  4. Ensure all waste is disposed of properly and timely  
  5. Ensure kitchen is kept clean and sanitized at all times 
  6. Report illness or injury to supervisor

  2. Know and implement community safety procedures 
  3. Fix or report any risks or situations that could result in injury of a resident, employee, or visitor 
  4. Report incidents or accidents of staff, residents or visitors to supervisor on duty / on call 
  5. Be aware of and participate in all disaster or severe weather procedures 
  6. Be prepared to respond to all types of emergencies 
  7. Immediate reporting of any hazard which violates city or state code  

Qualifications: 


  1. Requirements 
  2. Experience in cooking  
  3. Negative TB skin test 
  4. Satisfactory criminal background check 
  5. Ability to maintain acceptable work attendance record/follow work schedule 
  6. Ability to organize and utilize time effectively 
  7. Successfully complete state required training in allotted time frame 
  8. Complete in-service training as required 

  1. Working Conditions 
  2. May use hand truck for lifting weight above personal limits 
  3. May work 95% of time standing 
  4. Repeated lifting of up to 30 lbs. 
  5. Work in varying hot and cold extremes related to kitchen equipment 
  6. Work with cleaning chemicals 

  1. Standards 
  2. May not work under the influence of alcohol or mood altering drugs / illegal drugs. 
  3. Neat appearance; adherence to the dress code (clean shirt without advertising and long pants with closed shoe.  No sandals or sleeveless shirts) and good personal hygiene.  
  4. Willingness to adhere to the assisted living principles of promoting independence, dignity, and choice. 

Additionally, the Dietary Aide will be required to perform any reasonable duty delegated by the Dietary Manager within the scope of his/her practice, educational level and training that may not be noted on this job description.
