Are you passionate about helping survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking rebuild their lives? Do you have experience working in non-profit? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you!
APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with Turning Point in Mount Clemens, MI looking to add a Resident Advocate to their already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be to support and advocate for shelter residents while ensuring their safety and access to resources. Keep reading for more details!

What your day will look like:
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation and reports.
  • Conduct weekly resident council meetings to share resources and shelter events with survivors.
  • Address communal living issues with residents and provide guidance as needed.
  • Maintain a current referral list of local agencies and provide information to callers and residents.
  • Conduct weekly housing and employment search trips with residents as needed.
  • Assist Case Managers with daily tasks and help residents develop computer skills to reach housing, employment, and personal goals.
  • Provide advocacy for residents with community organizations as needed.
  • Offer support and coverage for Turning Point’s 24-hour hotline including responding to calls.
  • Process phone and in-person intakes for shelter residents.
  • Follow up on and modify safety assessments and safety plans for residents as needed.
  • Coordinate services with other shelter units and departments within the organization.
  • Notify the Director of Shelter, Senior Director of Residential Services, or CEO of any emergency situations impacting staff or clients.
  • Transport residents in personal vehicle when required.
What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, or human trafficking.
  • Skilled in crisis intervention, safety planning, lethality assessments, and intake procedures.
  • Familiarity with shelter operations, hotline response and counseling preferred.
  • Understand advocacy within systems such as healthcare, criminal justice, family court, child welfare, education, and human services.
  • Knowledge of victims’ rights, confidentiality, and community resources
  • Reliable transportation and valid Michigan driver’s license
