The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the performing arts and wants to be part of a mission-driven organization making a lasting impact in New York City. The Weekend Receptionist provides administrative support for the Music School on Saturdays, ensuring that faculty and students have consistent access to facilities for lessons and classes. The Receptionist may be asked to work weekdays when needed, for special events or to provide coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Greenwich House Music School administrative staff from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on weekend days.
  • Monitor entry to the building and confirm that students, faculty and artists are using the spaces they have reserved in Skedda.
  • Facilitate studio and conference room rentals, including readying the spaces for use (turning on lights, building systems, and air conditioning as needed), addressing any renter issues and ensuring pianos are covered and rentals end at scheduled times.
  • Communicate as needed with parents and students on lesson, teacher, and scheduling issues. Advise and consult with the Director and Registrar as needed on issues parents and students identify.
  • Provide information on Music School programs to members of the public who call or visit the school.
  • Assist the Registrar, including register students and track class- and faculty-related requests.
  • Provide occasional support to student recitals and Music School performances and events, such as box office support, artist liaison support, and event coverage.
  • Address urgent needs of faculty, students or artists, including escalating issues within Greenwich House or calling 911 as appropriate.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Director or Registrar.


What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in customer service, ideally with an arts organization.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to manage inquiries in a polite and organized manner, and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Comfort and proficiency using data management systems, which would include Skedda, Google calendar, and Sawyer.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items upwards of 20 lbs.
  • A proactive problem solver who brings a positive outlook, strong organization skills, and interest in supporting community arts education and the students we serve.

Salary Range

The expected hourly rate for this position is $25 per hour, with an anticipated schedule of 7-10 hours per week. This rate reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, and organizational needs.
