Job description

Oasis at the Atrium is actively seeking a Cook for our Assisted Living Facility in Jersey City, NJ. The ideal candidate will have have familiarity and true enjoyment from working with the needs of the infirm and the elderly. We also require that you Serv Safe Certification

Key Responsibilities:

Meal Preparation: Prepare daily meals for residents, following menus that meet dietary requirements and preferences.

Food Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and dining areas by following strict food safety standards, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.

Menu Planning & Special Diets: Collaborate with the dietary team to create and adapt menus to meet the specific needs of residents, including any special dietary restrictions (e.g., low sodium, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly).

Serving & Presentation: Serve meals in a timely manner and ensure that all meals are presented in an appealing and appetizing way.

Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control and ordering food supplies, ensuring the kitchen is fully stocked with fresh ingredients.

Communication: Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and families to ensure satisfaction with meals and address any concerns.

Compliance: Follow all safety, sanitation, and health guidelines, as well as any community-specific regulations and policies.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or assisted living setting.

Knowledge: Strong knowledge of dietary guidelines, food safety, and nutrition, with an ability to prepare meals for various dietary needs and preferences.

Skills: Ability to follow recipes, adapt to dietary restrictions, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Team Player: A positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members, including kitchen staff, management, and nursing staff.
