Part Time Weekend Nanny information

What is a part time weekend nanny?

Part time weekend nannies are childcare professionals who primarily work on weekends, providing care and supervision for children while parents are busy or away. Their responsibilities often include preparing meals, engaging children in age-appropriate activities, and ensuring their safety and well-being. Part time weekend nannies may work in the family's home and their hours typically cover Saturdays and Sundays, though exact schedules can vary depending on the family's needs. They may also assist with light household tasks related to the children, such as tidying up play areas or doing the children's laundry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time weekend nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Weekend Nanny, you need experience in childcare, a basic understanding of child development, and often CPR/first aid certification. Familiarity with child safety protocols, scheduling apps, and communication tools is typically required. Exceptional patience, reliability, and strong communication skills help build trust with both children and parents. These skills and qualities are vital for creating a safe, nurturing, and dependable environment for children during weekend care.

What are some common challenges faced by part time weekend nannies, and how can they be managed?

Part time weekend nannies often encounter challenges such as adapting to changing family routines, managing multiple children with differing needs, and maintaining engagement during longer stretches of care without weekday structure. To manage these, clear communication with parents about expectations and routines is essential. Establishing a set of activities and being flexible with scheduling can help keep children occupied and content while ensuring a smooth weekend experience for both the family and the nanny.

Overview

SUGAR HILL, GA- LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY:  A warm, faith-centered family is seeking a PART-TIME, LIVE-OUT NANNY to join their household in Sugar Hill, Georgia. This long-term opportunity is ideal for a nurturing, proactive, and dependable childcare professional who enjoys becoming an integral part of a family's day-to-day life. The family hopes to find someone who leads with kindness, has a wonderful sense of humor, communicates well, and appreciates the values of a Christian household. They are willing to guarantee a minimum of 25 hrs a week, starting at $35/hr gross via payroll. Schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The role involves caring for two young children, ages seven and four years old, and supporting the family's afternoon and evening routines. Primary responsibilities include school and daycare pickups, supervising after-school activities, preparing healthy snacks, assisting with homework and reading practice, engaging the children in enriching, age-appropriate activities, and preparing simple dinners for the children as needed. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable assisting with children's laundry, family laundry, light household tasks related to the children, running occasional errands, and contributing to a well-organized home.

The family is looking for a nanny who is warm, responsible, reliable, highly organized, and proactive. A candidate who enjoys supporting children's emotional, social, and educational development while creating a structured, engaging, and loving environment will be an excellent fit. Previous experience assisting school-aged children with homework and fostering a love of learning is highly valued.

The schedule will primarily consist of weekday afternoons and evenings, with flexibility for occasional weekday evenings and approximately one weekend per month, scheduled in advance. There is also the possibility of occasional live-in coverage during mom's infrequent work travel, approximately one week at a time every couple of months. Advance notice will always be provided.

The family lives in a welcoming suburban community in Sugar Hill with numerous parks and family-friendly amenities nearby. Candidates should have a reliable vehicle and be comfortable transporting the children. Mileage reimbursement can be discussed during the interview process. The position is available to begin as soon as possible.
