ELKHART COUNTY GOVERNMENTAL POSITION VACANCY NOTICE
PART-TIME PARK SERVICES- LANDSCAPE
DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Parks & Recreation
HIRING RATE: Up to $18.25/hour
BENEFITS: No Benefits Offered
POSITION TO BE FILLED: April 2026
HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: 16 hours/week as assigned including evenings & weekends; Seasonal position for 28 weeks (April-Mid October)
LOCATION OF POSITION: Cobus Creek and other various park locations, Goshen, Elkhart County
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Between parks (please complete driving page on application)
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of this position is to assist with the planting, thinning, watering, pruning, weeding, removal, and mulching of trees, shrubs, flowers, and gardening at landscaped park sites. Other secondary projects may include the establishment of native plants/natural areas, programming related to plants, and working with landscape volunteers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent, higher education and/or previous experience in landscaping, biology, and land management preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift 80 pounds, kneel, bend, push, and do physical labor related to gardening; plus, work in all types of weather
• Knowledge and skills of garden landscaping, especially with the use of native plants and removal of non-native plant species
• Ability to operate lawn equipment and hand/garden tools
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen
