Hourly Pay Range:
$36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
Position Highlights:
  • Position: Registered Nurse - Infusion
  • Location: Elmhurst Cancer Center - Elmhurst, IL
  • Per Diem Level 3 - Must be able to work 111-144 hours every 6 weeks.
  • Hours: Shifts will vary Monday - Friday with 8 or 10 hours shifts. Weekends are on call and scheduled on average 6-8 per year and holidays rotates amongst staff.

General Summary:
  • As an experienced practitioner, is accountable for providing high quality, individualized, goal directed nursing care for all levels of Infusion Therapy patients and their families in accordance with the mission, vision and philosophy of the Division of Nursing.
  • This clinical nurse will exemplify the role of caring for patients receiving standard injection therapy, infusion therapy and for those on research protocols.
  • This nurse will be proficient in the procedures and interventions for administering injectable medications and infusion therapy, while maintaining the safety precautions necessary when handling these agents.

What you will do:
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of nursing care to the infusion center patient.
  • Proficient in vascular access care, maintenance and management.
  • Safely prepares mixes, handles, administers and disposes of injectables and infused agents according to policy.
  • Performs designated nursing and other patient care activities according to established nursing policies and procedures.
  • Attains knowledge and competency reflective of current standards of practice.
  • Interacts and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
  • Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of nursing practice.
  • Integrates research findings into nursing practice and collaborates with potential research opportunities
  • Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Communicates information to others as appropriate to maintain effective patient flow.
  • Collaborates closely with the charge nurse and APN
  • Recognizes and adjusts to situations that vary from the norm.
  • Promotes safety measures to prevent patient and staff injuries.
  • Guides and supervises staff in the provision of patient care.
  • Enhances own professional growth and development.
  • Maintains a safe therapeutic working environment and recognizes need for action in emergency situations.
  • Documentation is thoroughly and timely completed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

What you will need:
  • Experience: 1 year of experience as a staff nurse, required. 1 year of professional infusion, hematology/oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Education: Associate's in Nursing, required. Bachelor's in Nursing, preferred.
  • License: Current Illinois Nursing licensure, required.
  • Certification: CPR Certification through American Heart Association, required.
  • Current Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Card, strongly preferred.
