Job description

Flex Banker

Department: Retail Banking | Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: This position will work from our Columbia, MO branch location

Position Overview

The Flex Banker is a part-time branch role built for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment and can jump in and deliver on day one. Whether you're supplementing another job, re-entering the workforce, or exploring a career in banking, this role gives you hands-on experience across teller and banking functions without the full-time commitment. Hours vary week to week based on branch needs, making scheduling predictability a shared conversation.

What You'll Do
  • Provide friendly, accurate service at the teller line and personal banker desk, ensuring every customer feels seen and helped — regardless of how simple or complex their need.
  • Process core banking transactions: deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier's checks, and account inquiries.
  • Assist with new account openings and basic account maintenance under the guidance of full-time branch staff.
  • Balance your teller drawer at the end of each shift and flag discrepancies for prompt resolution.
  • Introduce customers to products, services, and digital banking tools when opportunities naturally arise, passing warm referrals to full-time bankers for follow-through.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and handle customer documentation in accordance with bank policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Step in where the branch needs support: answering phones, assisting with mail, or helping other departments during peak periods.
What You Bring
  • At least 1 year of customer service or cash handling experience; prior banking experience is a plus but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A friendly, professional communication style that puts customers at ease and builds confidence.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including some Saturdays, based on branch scheduling needs.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within established procedures while staying focused under the pace of branch activity.
  • Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with Microsoft Office is helpful.
  • Commitment to maintaining customer confidentiality and upholding bank policy at all times.
Schedule

This is a part-time position, typically ranging from 15–25 hours per week depending on branch volume and staffing. Candidates should have flexible availability, including weekend availability. Specific hours will be discussed during the interview process.

Benefits Offered (Full-time employees)
  • Health Coverage: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans. Also offers a Health Payment Account (HPA).
  • Retirement: Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with a dedicated wealth advisor.
  • Wellness/Ancillary: Includes supplemental benefits including Accident, Critical Illness, Short-Term Disability and employer-paid Life Insurance.
