Overview

The Heavy-Duty Cleaner is responsible for all heavy cleaning in the Commons (Community Building) and the heavy cleaning in resident apartments.

Essential Functions

  • Performs daily and weekly deep cleans in residents’ apartments.
  • Turns over room for guest suites and Life Care on the Go apartments.
  • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, metalwork, and trim.
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas as well as dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Operates cleaning equipment machines, scrubbers, power washer, carpet cleaner extraction machines, and vacuum cleaners.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor as well as cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Carries out carpet cleaning using the following techniques: vacuuming, bonnet buffing, extracting and dry cleaning.
  • Turns mattresses and vacuums upholstery and mattresses thoroughly.
  • Washes walls, windows, door panels, sills, ceiling, and woodwork.
  • Empties wastebaskets and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Assists in moving heavy furniture and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment in good working condition and returns it to the proper location.
  • Follows all safety and sanitation regulations; attends all required in-service programs; reports any unusual occurrences concerning employees’, residents’, and visitors’ safety and well-being.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year of related experience in a healthcare or life care retirement community setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be reliable, conscientious, committed to quality and strict sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
