Job description

Job Summary: This position is responsible for operating the water treatment plant to ensure an adequate and safe water supply.

Major Duties:

  • Controls treatment plant processes and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption, industrial and commercial use.
  • Records plant operation data.
  • Operates pumps and adjusts valves used in treatment process.
  • Adds chemicals as needed.
  • Mixes chemicals and changes cylinders, adjusts feeders as necessary.
  • Operates and controls various pumps and valves to regulate the flow of raw water into plant.
  • Inspects plant operations for safety, maintenance and proper process operations.
  • Monitors flow levels, maintains proper levels for all purified water storage reservoirs, to ensure adequate water supply.
  • Maintains machines, filters, pumps and electrical equipment.
  • Maintains log of test results.
  • Performs tests to control water quality
  • Collets water samples for laboratory analysis and testing by GA EPD
  • Receives, logs and stores incoming chemicals and laboratory supplies.
  • Performs general housekeeping and grounds maintenance duties.
  • Attends training classes and reads trade publications to stay informed of developments in the industry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid drivers' license is required.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Possession of a Georgia Class I or II Water Operator's License required.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

This position is a part-time position.
