Part Time Volunteering information

What is part time volunteering?

Part time volunteering refers to offering your time and skills to support an organization, cause, or community on a flexible, non-full-time basis. Part time volunteers typically commit a few hours per week or month, making it easier to fit volunteering into a busy schedule. These roles can range from administrative tasks and event support to hands-on work with people, animals, or the environment. Part time volunteering is a great way to gain experience, build connections, and make a positive impact without a full-time commitment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time volunteer?

To thrive as a Part Time Volunteer, you typically need a willingness to help, reliability, and a basic understanding of the organization's mission, with qualifications varying by volunteer role. Familiarity with communication tools (like email or scheduling apps) and any required training or background checks are common. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a proactive attitude help volunteers engage effectively and support diverse needs. These qualities ensure volunteers can make a meaningful impact, work well within teams, and adapt to the dynamic nature of volunteer environments.

How can part-time volunteers effectively balance their volunteering commitments with other personal or professional responsibilities?

Balancing part-time volunteering with other responsibilities often requires clear communication and strong time management skills. Many organizations offer flexible scheduling options, allowing volunteers to choose shifts or projects that fit their availability. It's helpful to set realistic expectations with both the volunteer coordinator and yourself, ensuring you don’t overcommit. Regularly evaluating your workload and discussing any changes with your team can help maintain a positive experience while contributing meaningfully.

About Us
WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. WeVote is a movement of over 120 active passionate, part-time volunteers (starting with the founders) who build mobile technologies that will touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. We believe that many voters are busy, distracted, and impatient. We have a goal of providing a positive voting experience that helps people decide how to vote. More information at https://WeVote.US.
Role Overview
WeVote has an open volunteering position for a Director of Paid Advertising to help strengthen American Democracy. You are an experienced marketing leader (7+ years) with a track record of building and scaling paid media programs across platforms like Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok, Reddit, and YouTube. You know how to set strategy, manage lean budgets, and work with other facets of the organization. You want to work with an excellent team that is driven and nationally recognized. This position is for 2+ hours per week.
What You'll Do
  • Own the overall paid advertising strategy for nonpartisan voter education and GOTV campaigns with a focus on Google Ads, aligned to election timelines and priority geographies
  • Set budget allocation, channel mix, and performance targets; forecast reach and impact against WeVote's mission goals
  • Provide direction and mentorship to paid media volunteers (e.g., campaign managers and analysts), reviewing campaign structure, pacing, bids, audiences, and creative strategy
  • Establish measurement standards in partnership with analytics: tracking frameworks (UTMs, pixels/tags, conversion events), attribution, and reporting that reconciles with platform and GA4 data
  • Define a testing roadmap (audiences, creative, landing flows), synthesize learnings across campaigns, and codify what works into scalable playbooks
  • Own brand safety and compliance with platform political ad policies and WeVote's nonpartisan 501(c)(3) guidelines, including required verifications and disclaimers

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of experience managing paid digital campaigns, including experience owning strategy and budgets at scale
  • Deep proficiency with Google Ads, including YouTube ads, including the ability to own strategy, campaign setup, execution and measurement (with the help of other specialists in the org)
  • Some familiarity with Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, and Reddit Ads is preferred
  • Strong command of GA4, UTM standards, and pixels/tags; able to set measurement strategy and guide analytics troubleshooting
  • Experience leading or mentoring marketers and coordinating cross-functional work
  • Strategic and detail-oriented, with the judgment to prioritize across multiple concurrent campaigns
  • Meticulous about compliance, privacy, and brand safety; experience with political or cause-related advertising is a strong plus
  • 2+ hours per week during our core team hours M-F 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • You are currently located in the US and can work one or two hours that overlap with US Pacific Time per week
