Job Summary
Job Description
  • Assists in maintenance, enhancement, and evaluation of Louisiana Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (LA EHDI) IS program for the Office of Public Health's (OPH) Bureau Family Health (BFH)
  • Collaborates with the Epidemiologist in conducting quality assessments and the use of evaluation results to strengthen IS.
  • Assists with enhancements/transitions in LA EHDI-IS, including testing of data transfer, and ongoing support, training, and assistance to all users.
  • Verifies newborn hearing screening data for completeness, accuracy, and timely entry into the Louisiana Electronic Events Registry System.
  • Monitors all LA birth hospitals' data entries monthly and provide feedback and guidance regarding missing and/or inaccurate data.
  • Provides LAEHDI-IS training to hearing screening program supervisors, audiologists & audiologist representatives, hospital personnel, freestanding birth centers personnel, and partner agency data system users.
  • Compiles, reviews, and assesses monthly, quarterly, and annual hospital screening data and communicate results to hospital supervisors and hearing screening personnel.
  • Collaborates annually with Epidemiologist, Program Coordinator, and System Development Coordinator to generate and distribute hearing screening program scorecards and hospital rankings for each hospital to hearing screening personnel, as well as hospital CEOs, quality assurance directors, and medical records staff.
  • Conducts identified remediation activities with hospitals as a result of scorecard assessment.
  • Provides an annual presentation of the hospital scorecard review to the advisory council.
  • Reviews Louisiana birth hospitals and freestanding birth centers' newborn hearing screening program policies and procedures for adherence to the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing recommendations.
  • Provides guidance to ensure policy documents are comprehensive and contain all recommended procedures.
  • Conducts hospital visits, on-site trainings, and virtual meetings as needed to assist hearing screening program supervisors and hospital personnel.
  • Maintains communication with hospital staff to assure LA EHDI newborn hearing screening program protocol are being followed.
  • Participates in regular communication and collaborative efforts with the LA EHDI team and stakeholders to identify areas of weakness and improve LA EHDI program quality.
  • Assists in collection, management, and reporting of LA EHDI project data and participate in grant-related writing and reporting activities.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development activities, EHDI staff meetings and calls, EHDI 1-on-1 meetings with LA EHDI Program Director and Program Coordinator, regional collaborative meetings, and advisory council meetings.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in data systems management and data monitoring.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience with newborn screening, EHDI programs, or maternal and child health systems.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail and follow up.
  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.

DESIRED:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health education, information systems, or relevant field.
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience in data systems management and data monitoring.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience with newborn screening, EHDI programs, or maternal and child health systems.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
