Job Description
San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly adjunct positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by respective department deans and/or faculty chairs. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. The Head Coach and/or Athletic Director will determine amount of coaching stipend for Adjunct Assistant Coach assignment, not to exceed $5,000.
This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants positions as Adjunct Assistant Coach, Men's and Women's Swimming.
Representative Duties

1. Perform additional working hours, which may include the breaks (spring, summer and winter), weekends, and evenings.
2. Take and pass the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) exam.
3. Help the head coach organize and execute an aggressive scouting and recruiting program of local and regional high school student athletes and out-of-state student athletes; actively participate and support high school visitations; establish individual contacts with athletes and parent/ guardians; follow-up correspondence/emails; lead campus tours for prospective student athletes.
4. Scout opponent teams.
5. Assist current and prospective student athletes to the appropriate resource to ensure their success (i.e. admissions office, financial aid office, tutoring centers, athletic counselor).
6. Assist in monitoring that student-athletes get grade checks completed by professors and turned in to the coaches in a timely manner.
7. Assist in maintaining accurate records of any required physical exam documentation and injury records for the student-athletes.
8. Assist the Athletic Trainer in the monitoring player injuries and rehabilitation.
9. Help resolve student-athlete issues including providing encouragement and support for student athletes
10. Assist with sports clinics, camps, tournaments, races and/or charity games.
11. Coach practices and both traditional and non-traditional games.
12. Attend and participate in some local coaches' meetings, staff and conference meetings, state coaches' meetings, and coaching clinics; maintain membership and participate in meetings at the local and state coaches' associations.
13. Provide the Sports Information Specialist the statistics for all tournaments and other off-site contests as needed.
14. Give input on the performance of each referee after each game for the referee evaluation as needed.
15. Provide the necessary documentation for the reimbursement of out- of- pocket expenses.
16. Make recommendations for the order of uniforms and equipment each year.

Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to compliance with NCAA, CCCAA, state and other applicable regulations; Demonstrated ability to improve athletes' skills using proven coaching strategies and techniques; Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, evaluate and adapt in a dynamic educational environment; Experience teaching Kinesiology activity courses at the collegiate level;
Strong commitment to professional development, maintaining positive relationships within the community and remaining current in the field; Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleague, management, classified staff and others outside the college and; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Additional instructional assignments will be compensated at the applicable rate per contract hour for lecture and laboratory courses. Additional non-instructional assignments will be compensated at the applicable rate.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Education:
Any bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience OR any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience.
A minimum of two years of experience coaching high school and/or college age Swimming as part of a club or team;
Any degree and professional experience demonstrated sensitivity to, understanding of, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, religious, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Employment Requirements
The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
