Job description

Brookline seeks a part-time Van Driver for the Council on Aging Department's Intergenerational Transportation Program. The Van Diver provides safe, reliable transportation that connects older adults and Teen Center Members through intergenerational programming, supporting access, engagement, and community-building between the Council on Aging and Teen Center.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport older adults to and from the Senior Center, Teen Center, and intergenerational activities.
• Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and mobility needs
• Foster a welcoming, respectful environment that supports positive interactions across generations
• Maintain vehicle safety, cleanliness, and fueling; coordinate routine maintenance.
• Communicate with program staff regarding schedules, delays, and participant needs.
• Respond to emergencies and follow established safety protocols
• Observe and report participant needs, making referrals to COA staff when appropriate.
• Support basic program logistics, including occasional pickups/deliveries and feedback on operations.

Qualifications

• Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License with an excellent driving record
• Experience working with older adults (and/or youth) preferred
• Ability to safely operate vehicles in all weather conditions
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and sound judgment
