Position Summary
Plans and coordinates the day-to-day fiscal, administrative,and operational activities of a narrowly defined, contract or grant fundedprogram/project or set of funded activities. The program/project is usuallyfocused to a single purpose. For this particular project, the focus is avionics, aerospaceand rocketry. The duties will include:
- Developing and implementing introductory avionics and aerospace curriculum for June and July 2025 Engineering Summer Academy (ESA) cohorts hosted at the UNM School of Engineering main campus. These are pre-college, high school, STEM summer enrichment camps.
- Monitoring the projects for summer program students from design, creation, and implementation.
- Teaching aerodynamics to high school students.
- Teaching safety aviation to high school students.
- Developing Aerospace/Avionics hands-on activities for K-12students.
- Requisitioning, ordering, and organizing supplies and materials.
- Coordinating and scheduling logistics (dates, times, locations) for program-related activities on and off-campus.
- Directly supervising and training academic assistants (student employees) for the duration of the summer camps.
- Collecting information and developing report for sponsoring agency on respective activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
As needed, will consult with the Director and the UnitAdministrator on purchasing and budgetary concerns to ensure compliance withgrant objectives. This is a short-term appointment, less than 3months.

Conditions of Employment
- If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
- All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering graduate
- Knowledge and experience in the fields of avionics, aerospace and rocketry
- Certification in fire safety
- Experience with teaching or tutoring K-12 students
- Knowledge and experience utilizing Open Rocket rocket simulation software
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
