What we are looking for:

The Unit Secretary is a valuable member of the Medicine and Transitional Bed Unit and has a significant impact on the efficient and effective operation of the department. The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and receptionist duties.

  • Previous unit secretary experiencerequired

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge ofmedical terminology required

  • Proficient computer and typing skills

  • Demonstrated strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skillsessential

  • Demonstrated customer service skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast paced environment essential

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written

  • MEDITECH computer experience preferred

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail essential

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills

  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment required

  • Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

Work Schedule:

The successful candidate must be available to work 8 and 10 hour shifts, including weekdays, weekends and holidays. (D10 0800-1800 or D8 0800-1600)
