Job description

Georgia Military College (GMC) Fairburn Campus is seeking qualified candidates to serve as part-time tutors in the following subject areas:
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Computer Science
  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Political Science
  • History
  • Psychology
  • Criminal Justice
  • Sociology
  • SAT/ACT Test Preparation

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic support to students through one-on-one, small-group, drop-in, appointment and classroom-based tutoring sessions.
  • Monitor employee GMC email on a weekly basis for tutoring assignments, updates, and communications.
  • Provide the Academic Support Manager with an updated availability schedule at the beginning of each academic quarter.
  • Promptly communicate any scheduling conflicts or changes at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records for all tutoring sessions.
  • Collaborate with course instructors, as needed, to obtain syllabi, course materials, or clarification regarding curriculum and course expectations.
  • Participate in all required tutor training and professional development sessions as directed by the Academic Support Manager.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate strong subject-matter expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to supporting student success.
*Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Must possess at least a high school diploma.
  2. Commit to two full quarters of tutoring.
  3. Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Be organized and punctual.
  5. Must be able to maintain an electronic timesheet.
  6. Completed sophomore-level college coursework in the subject area with an A or B average.
  7. Meet with students on a one-to-one, small-group, or classroom tutoring format(s) to give learning assistance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience tutoring college students and/or adult learners
