Job Description
Richland Community College is seeking part-time tutors for our Academic Success Center on campus. Tutors needed for our on campus Academic Success Center will be helping students with the following subject areas English, Math, Reading, Biology, Economics, Physics, and Nursing. The hours and days for these tutor positions will vary.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in math, reading, writing, biology, chemistry, or other specified academic area of expertise. Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with individuals of various abilities, ages, and needs. Math tutors must have taken college-level Calculus I (or higher) and passed with a grade of C or better.
Provides and prioritizes in-person and/or online professional tutoring in academic area of expertise for Richland Community College students to promote retention and success. While working in the tutoring center, maintains a quiet atmosphere conducive to learning. Completes appropriate work accomplished documentation and required trainings. Uses college-approved systems and tools such as Zoom, to provide online tutoring services.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIESContent knowledge in area of expertise and any other requirements corresponding to course knowledge needed for a specific subject.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or higher is preferred. Classroom instruction and/or tutoring experience is preferred.
Physical Demands
Operates teaching and learning aids used in the tutoring session.
Receives, processes, and provides visual and verbal information effectively.
Spends prolonged periods of time standing or sitting when working with individual students or in a group setting.
Relate in a positive manner to all students.
