About the role
Part-time position - Hourly Rate Range: $42.62 - $57.50
The Vessel Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, ensuring the safety of all crew members and passengers, as well as the proper management of cargo and compliance with maritime laws and regulations. The captain will oversee all aspects of navigation, vessel maintenance, and crew management, ensuring that the highest standards of safety and performance are always maintained.
What you'll do
  • Safe Navigation: Command and navigate the vessel safely, adhering to all maritime regulations and company policies.
  • Crew Management: Lead and supervise the crew, ensuring all members are trained, certified, and compliant with safety protocols. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Vessel Maintenance: Oversee and coordinate the maintenance and repair of the vessel, ensuring it is seaworthy and in optimal condition at all times.
  • Compliance: Ensure full compliance with local, national, and international maritime laws, as well as environmental regulations.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the transfer and pumping of sewage and water, ensuring environmental and operational compliance.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, conducting regular drills to ensure the crew is well-prepared for any situation.
  • Operational Efficiency: Optimize vessel operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Client and Partner Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and partners onboard, ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain Vessel Operations and Maintenance Logs, Personnel Reports, and all other Ship's Business records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Workplace Cleanliness: Ensure the cleanliness of the workplace, including restrooms, trash disposal, common areas, the pilot house, and gangways, particularly at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the overall operation of the vessel. role

Qualifications
  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard Inland Masters License (100 ton) or equivalent.
  • Radar Observer Endorsement.
  • FCC Marine Radio License.
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of maritime laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in navigation, vessel operations, and safety management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
