Description
The testing center assistant/proctor will provide a broad range of proctoring and administrative duties for the testing center. Proctor will administer various tests including Accuplacer, High School Equivalency Exam, make up exams, and various others. Proctor will also assist in scheduling, answering the phone, and clerical duties as needed. Currently enrolled Indian Hills Community College students are not eligible to work in the Testing Center.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Post-secondary training required, associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience in testing, teaching, training, or counseling preferred
  • Strong customer service skills and experience working with students and the public.
  • Must effectively use interpersonal and communication skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • Must obtain test proctoring certifications, as necessary.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, have strong computer skills that include troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that include Tuesday evening and Saturday morning assignments.
  • Must be able to move quickly and quietly around assigned section and testing center with ease and be able to stay alert during long periods of silence.

Work Performed
  • Answer phone calls, and communicate with students, faculty, and staff effectively regarding exam scheduling
  • Administer examinations for national testing companies to include exams via computer and/or paper pencil.
  • Conduct exams in accordance with policies and procedures of the testing service manuals and any supplemental manuals.
  • Monitor testing sessions as per the testing procedures manual.
  • Verify candidate's identification and seat them appropriately.
  • Check for breaches of test security and notify supervisor in difficult situations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers; assist customers with scheduling of exams; process source documents for testing; process and deliver test reports.
  • Pass annual proctoring examinations for testing companies.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist with clerical duties as needed.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work when scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
