Job description

Lawrence Yacht and Country Club, located in Lawrence, NY, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a part-time, Tennis Shop Attendant! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you’ll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
 
Role Type:
Seasonal (Position will last 6 months or less)
 
Pay: 
$17.00 - $17.50 per hour
 
General Purpose:
Offers superior customer service while selling merchandise and assisting management in merchandising, inventory control, reservations, and special events preparation.
 
Essential Duties:
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the shop or store as determined by management
  • Maintain accountability for all POS transactions
  • Collect applicable fees from members, guests, and outside patrons as they arrive
  • Make court, clinic, lesson and special event reservations, in person or by phone
  • Assist guests by selling merchandise and providing information in a professional manner
  • Assist with rotating stock and keeping displays clean and orderly
  • Assist with general cleaning of the shop or store
  • Assist shop supervisor with creating appealing displays
  • Assist with monthly physical inventories
  • Work with coaches to facilitate orderly start and play times as needed
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Perform other duties as required
 
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Physical Demands:
Frequently stands and uses hands; reaches with hands and arms, talks or hears. Regularly walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
 
Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
 
Certificates/Licenses:
None required.
 
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., the associate may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; manuals for the equipment the associate may use are in English)
  • Active tennis player with knowledge of the game
  • Retail sales experience is preferred
  • Computer proficiency, including but not limited to Jonas POS, Microsoft Office applications, social media, and other programs related to tennis, such as tennisdirector.com
