General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking candidates for part-time Surgical Technology Instructors to teach clinical in a Surgical Services department: 12 hours per week (2 days, 6 hours each) in the Surgical Technology Associate Degree Program.
The remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester will be: $960 per lecture hour/$860 per lab hour.
The clinical assignments will be held twice per week either with a 6 hour lab or a 12 hour lab. This position is an exempt position and the compensation earned would be $5,160for a 6 hour lab or $10,320 for a 12 hour lab.
Paid orientation to teaching, responsibilities will be provided. Individuals with current clinical proficiency and/or teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. • Provides instruction, supervision and evaluation in accordance with program policies and procedures for successful achievement of student learning outcomes
• Maintain a record of student clinical time
• Determine and maintain competency evaluations

Essential Functions
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.
Required Qualifications
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
  • Recent (within 5 years) surgery experience.

Bachelor's of Science degree with a major in Health related field
