St. Catherine of Siena School Part Time Facilities Assistantย 

Job description

General Summary of Essential Purpose:ย Provides general maintenance services to the school grounds and buildings to help ensure a safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a part-time, year-round position. Because some responsibilities are best completed when students are not present, while others require work during the school day, the schedule may be adjusted based on maintenance needs and mutual availability. The typical schedule will be one day per week for approximately 35 hours. Additional hours may be available during the summer and occasionally throughout the school year, as mutually agreed upon by the employee and school administration.

Major Responsibilities (including but not limited to, under Principal direction):

Safety Compliance:

  • Attend required training and remain current with rules and regulations related to campus maintenance and safety, including Archdiocesan training (typically one training annually).

Facilities Maintenance:

  • Address routine maintenance needs as identified by school administration on a weekly basis. Significant repairs or maintenance requiring specialized expertise will be contracted to third-party vendors.
  • Set up and take down for special events, including tables, chairs, and other event needs.
  • Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Work closely with the Principal and Office Manager to address facility and safety maintenance needs on an ongoing and regular basis.
  • Communicate completion of maintenance tasks and any outstanding concerns to the Principal and Office Manager.
  • Work directly with the Principal and/or Office Manager when outside vendors or additional support are needed.
  • Complete summer facilities maintenance projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Grounds:

  • Perform basic grounds and landscaping maintenance, including leaf blowing, weeding, lawn mowing, and light pruning of shrubs and trees as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, and twisting on a regular basis and in a variety of conditions.

Work schedule: Part-time, approximately 35 hours per week, year-round. Schedule will be mutually determined with the hired candidate, with regular hours generally occurring between 7:00 AM3:30 PM, MondayFriday. Occasional additional hours may be available during the summer and school year. Availability for occasional urgent evening or weekend needs is a plus.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Seattle, WA 98115: Must be able to reliably commute or relocate prior to starting work.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Wage: $2528/hour, Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
