Job description

The Student Videographer position within the Marketing Department works with the video team to produce high quality visual content that documents the history and promotes the mission of Liberty University. Candidates should be familiar with the entire video production process and have an understanding of various camera platforms. Student videographers will primarily focus on event-based video coverage around campus to build up a library of footage and must be able to work events on nights and weekends. Student videographers will also assist on large set productions for athletic intros, branding commercials and testimonials, as well as video editing projects as needed.
All candidates must submit a link to their videography demo reel to be considered for the position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1. Research: Remains knowledgeable of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks; watches and researches promotional videos and other video productions.
2. Pre-Production: Brainstorms and develops video concepts in cooperation with existing University brand initiatives; Attends weekly meetings with production team.
3. Production: Conducts event-based video production which involves interacting with clients and operating all video and audio equipment; transports and sets up lighting and audio equipment as required; provides limited troubleshooting and maintenance of field production equipment.
4. Post-Production: Plans and performs video post-production tasks which include, sorting and organizing video footage; makes editorial decisions, rough cuts, audio adjustments, color correction, and final editing using Adobe Creative Suite.
5. Communicates with marketing team as project is edited; Obtains approval from all individuals involved in each project on drafts and final proofs.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
2. Approximately One to Three years of related experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demo reel of recent relevant work must be submitted to be interviewed for the position.
3. Video Production Specialist is proficient in using an Apple computer platform; experienced in using Adobe Creative Suite, and understanding of Adobe Premiere. Knowledge of color grading and motion graphics is preferred.

Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
