Position Overview
The School of Continuing Education and Professional Development is seeking an innovative part-time instructor to teach workforce and professional development courses in Business and Technology, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies. The instructor will provide adult learners with insights into current technological advancements and their applications in the business world.
What you will be doing
  • Provides instruction in business and technology disciplines such as artificial intelligence, data science, CAD, and information technology.
  • Equips adult learners with applied digital skills aligned to current industry standards
  • Develops and delivers course content on AI and related technologies
  • Explains complex concepts in an accessible manner suitable for adult learners
  • Incorporates real-world case studies and practical applications into instruction
  • Evaluates student understanding through assessments and projects.
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends to ensure course relevance
  • Develops and delivers technology-based curricula using current platforms and tools
  • Teaches complex digital concepts in accessible formats for diverse learners
  • Incorporates hands-on labs, coding, or simulation activities
  • Prepares learners for certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Autodesk, etc.)
  • Maintains student records and evaluates learning outcomes
  • Keeps course content aligned with industry updates and job market shifts
  • Uses online instructional platforms and multimedia resources effectively
  • Provides real-world context through project-based learning
  • Collaborates with tech faculty and program leadership on content design
  • Participates in ongoing professional development in instructional tech
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field
  • Professional experience in AI, machine learning, or related technologies
  • Prior teaching experience, particularly with adult learners, is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies including AI, data analytics, CAD, and IT systems
  • Ability to deliver technology instruction with clarity and adaptability
  • Experience using LMS platforms and industry-specific software
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and instructional design skills
  • Familiarity with credentialing pathways and digital badges
  • Excellent communication and engagement strategies for online/hybrid formats
  • Ability to assess technical skill development through hands-on projects
  • Awareness of workforce demands and certification trends
  • Organizational skills and attention to technical documentation
  • Capacity to support learners new to digital environments
